We invite both men and women to join us for an evening of creative fun . . . as you experiment with a wide variety of art media, while socially interacting with others. We even supply snacks to make the evening more enjoyable.

Thursday Adult ART CLASS
You must be over 21 to attend
7:00 – 9:00 pm
Cost: $20 / Person
All materials and refreshments are included in the cost.
Payment is due the night of the class.
Space is limited, please call 309-945-5428 to reserve your spot at our next Thursday Night Adult Art Class
As we come closer to the date of an upcoming Step-by-Step Art Class, we will create a special painting or drawing just for that evening. You will be able to view the image on facebook @ Smith Studio and Gallery and in our store about a week before the scheduled art class.

Halloween POINTILLISM
Step-by-Step Impressionist drawing using oil pastels
Oil Pastel is a unique art medium that can be used in many ways. On this special evening we will create a Halloween image in a step-by-step manner. It is amazing to see how the image develops as colors are laid in a dot pattern. Hues mix into a myriad of fall colors in a manor that the Impressionist artists knew so well.

PEN & INK Evening of drawing
Step-by-Step dramatic landscape drawing
Pen and ink is a wonderful art media that expresses drama in its’ black and white imagery. In this step-by-step event we will guide you through the creation of an Illinois landscape using a quill pen and India ink. Learn how to create depth in your artwork with the proper shading. You will develop comfort with your own pen stroke as you learn how simple this media can become.

Holiday Floral PAINTING
Tempera on canvas board Step-by-Step painting
Andrew Wyeth, Mark Rothko and Jacob Lawrence were all famous American artists who chose to express themselves in tempera paint. Painting in Tempera on canvas is always fun as participants learn brush techniques that expand their painting vocabulary. This step-by-step night of friendship and art will be extra nice as participants create a seasonal red and green still life painting of holiday flowers.

Important Announcement
2026 Smith Studio and Gallery will be modifying our business plan to allow David Smith, owner/resident artist, more time for creating his own artwork. We are looking forward to a less regimented lifestyle, where we have more time to spend with family and friends as we explore this wondrous world, we live in.
Through 2025, Smith Studio will continue . . .
• Offering Private Art Classes/Parties, Saturday Afternoon Children’s Art Classes and Thursday Night Art Classes
• Representing our existing regional gallery artists artwork. Many of our artists have lowered their prices for the holiday season. At the end of the year all our artist we represent will be picking up their art to sell at art fairs and other galleries.
• Participating in Geneseo Chamber of Commerce Events.
• Honoring valid Smith Studio and Gallery Gift Certificates till the end of the year
We have enjoyed being part of the Geneseo’s dynamic downtown business community for over 13 years . . . participating in a wide range of Geneseo Chamber of Commerce Events; sponsoring the Geneseo High School Annual Art Show; and working with the Geneseo Park District and Geneseo Public Library to bring quality art classes to the community.

Moving forward . . .The Smith Studio and Gallery will continue to be part of the Geneseo Historic Business District; and will implement the following changes in 2026.
• We will only be featuring original artwork by David Smith, owner/resident artist in our gallery.
• We will no longer have set business hours. We will only be open by appointment or when David is in the studio creating artwork.
• We will no longer be offering Saturday Afternoon and Thursday Night scheduled art classes.
